The rivers were running low and clear, so the other week Dan and I decided to drop onto a stillwater that has great potential for big Rudd! My target was 2lb+ 🤞

I started with a few nice ones float fishing @sonubaits F1 corn, feeding Krill Hemp. I then decided to move around the lake simply freelining bread and feeding mashed bread, which also worked really well.

Unfortunately I didn’t get the 2lber, but easily caught a dozen or so that were maybe 1lb - 1.5lb. Gives me an excuse to go back, hopefully when it’s not quite so hot! ☀️😫😂

He wasn’t my intended target but still chuffed to catch old black eye from the river last week 🖤😁 Watched him waddle into the swim, push a decent Barbel out the way and suck in the hookbait. My 10ft Opportunist XTND bent double!!! Incredible to watch in clear water.

I was doing a string of short sessions on the river before work. Fortunately I managed to return for the Barbel the next day 😉

We discuss tips, rigs and tactics after locating some really decent Barbel on an intimate little stretch of water.

Rolling meat is a great method for searching out Barbel and Chub. It enables you to check out lots of different spots which increases your chances of finding these very special fish. In the video I had to change my methods once I’d found the fish to successfully start putting a few fish on the bank!

A very stripey one! Perch in my local river arn’t always this vivid! A welcome surprise when I nipped out on the river yesterday to catch Chub on cranks. Might have to come back to this new spot in Winter as I got hit in the margins by a much bigger perch 😬😉

So yesterday I decided to mainly mess about with my Glide rod to bag as many river species as possible! The other goal for the day was to travel light and explore as many new stretches of river in the Hampshire / Dorset area and I found some gems that I’m sure will come good later in the season 😉
I was supposed to be out all day today but to be honest the 20k steps and heat from yesterday has left me completely battered!! 🤣☀️I think I’ll chill today but my mind is bubbling with ideas for the season ahead!!

This was the biggest Bream caught for my most recent video. At 9lb 2oz it wasn’t as big as the double I caught by accident at Walthamstow, but it was caught by design on balanced tackle so was pretty pleased 😁

A few weeks earlier and these fish might have been doubles and in better condition as they had almost certainly spawned quite recently. Something I’ve made a note of for next year.

A bunch of big slabs were caught using heli rigged maggots, 6lb Smokeshield hooklength, size 14 Xpert Specialist hooks and Combi Feeders loaded with @sonubaits Krill & Squid.

TBF … as a young gun maybe 30years ago! Doing my best to get amongst the carp of the well known Waveney Valley Lakes, Norfolk.

I used to move around the complex from lake to lake. C Lake wasn’t the easiest on the complex but it’s where I caught some of the better fish during my time there, including this mid 20 mirror. I had 3 x 20s that day, quite an achievement at the time. I would regularly go for a whole week and loved it there. Good times.

Not sure why I’m wearing a shirt! I think I might have even had after shave on … you know, for the ladies 😉😂

So our Tench adventures are well underway. Hopping from venue to venue trying to catch a few Tincas!

We’re definitely getting amongst them on venues new and old, but it feels like we’re just warming up. I think we’ll step up a gear once those nighttime temps are consistently in or near double figures.

Keep an eye out for some video projects I’ve been involved in for @korumfishing and @sonubaits_specimen which will be launched on their channels at some point soon. A slight delay posting to my YT channel because of this, but I’m now on a mission to find a biggun … and I have a couple of venues in mind so watch this space!
