Thinking Perch

We’re heading into the middle of October and the temperatures have definitely started to drop! The last few weeks has seen me start to prep for my lure fishing for Perch. This has involved getting in new lures, terminal tackle and spooling up fresh braid onto the reels!

Carefully selecting lures!

Fresh spools of braid and success on the first session out!
My first sessions were on a new stretch of river and a video of these sessions will be on YouTube very soon. As you can see from the video below, I had no problem locating Perch but could I find a biggun!?

The answer is YES! I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I moved around from swim to swim with my searching lures and eventually caught the cracker below dropshotting. Little did I know that there was a bigger fish to come 😉

On the Dropshot but there was bigger to come
Keep an eye out for the video on my channel. Hope you’ve had a great start to the Perch fishing now that we’re coming into Winter!
Be lucky 😉

Getting Your Perch Tackle Ready
Preparing well before the season begins means you can spend your time fishing rather than fixing problems on the bank. Here is a simple checklist to work through.
Spool fresh braid. Old line loses strength and can cause tangles or bite-offs, so new line is a worthwhile investment.
Sort your terminal tackle. Check hooks, jigheads, swivels and leaders, and replace anything rusty or blunt.
Organise your lures by size and style. A tidy box helps you change quickly when the fish want something different.
Check your reels and rods. A light clean and a drop of oil can keep everything running smoothly.
With your kit sorted, you will be ready to make the most of those cooler autumn days when the perch are hungry and the fishing is at its best.
