TBT … My first 20lb carp. I remember it so well. This teenage lad had to work for it but got there eventually. Unbelievably this was probably nearly 35 years ago. Bloody hell I’m getting old! 😂 Always loved it, still do … will never leave me.

These little Blobs have worked really well when trotting in shallow water. Sometimes with a small shot as a dropper but often just a hook. 8lb line - blob - size 6 Grappler - meat straight on the hook. Simple 🙂. Currently on holiday in Cornwall but looking forward to doing more of this on my return 😉🎣

Fished with my new @korumfishing Glide Floats this morning. I opted for the 4g Speci Stick, with a 3g olivette and a couple of dropper shot. 8lb line and a size 6 Grappler holding big chunks of meat. I was able to keep the float trotting tight to the far bank. The float coped really well with the extra water pushing through from yesterday’s rain. Such an awesome way to catch Barbel. Off for a 2 week holiday in Devon / Cornwall from tomorrow but look forward to doing more of this when I return!!! 😁

Been catching loads of quality Chub from the rivers recently and was very happy to catch this one the other week. It was my first from a new venue for me on the River Ouse. @sonubaits Pellet-Os fished over 8mm Spicy Sausage pellets.

Been catching some lovely looking Chub in the opening weeks. Heavy flood water was washing away the pellets. Even 8mm it was hard to be sure where they where settling on the bottom. So, I went in with @sonubaits Code Red boilies, a heavier bait, which definitely did the trick!

Went out for a bit of float fishing yesterday. A bunch of nice Rudd turned up whilst feeding red maggots, hitting them on the drop. We shallowed up the float rod and Dan and I fished as a team, taking it in turns to feed / fish. We landed a bunch of nice fish in a crazy 30mins before they drifted away. I lost one twice the size of these too! 😫 Can’t complain.

I’ve not done a lot of float fishing on the river. This season I’m determined to improve my trotting skills and yesterday I had a fantastic afternoon catching a whole range of river fish on red maggots under a stick float. Will definitely be doing a bit more of this.

One off the top yesterday. I think that’s what they call MINT! Not had many that are as scale perfect as this one. Feels like I’ve refined my Surface Bomb rig over the last couple of months. Large Bomb + short hooklength (1.5-2ft) + straight point hook, Korum Specimen size 10. The surface simply explodes when they take it. The perfect self-hooking surface combo 👌 Well pleased with this one, glowing in the late afternoon sunshine! I managed two others on a short session before evening beers 😉😁

BOLT & RUN. Opening day on the river and I was fishing light, just a small piece of meat and a swan shot. I kept get hits and plucks but no hook ups. Switched to the Bolt n Run, no nonsense rig with match the hatch pelleto’s on the hair. Bang! Instantly hook ups, no taps just the rod wrenching around in the rests! 😁🎣

My weekend has been taken up with DIY on my fairly large garden pond, but yesterday I did manage to get out for a few hours and hit several swims on the river. After a few moves this long, lean Barbel was in the net. Feeding @sonubaits 8MM pellets then ‘matching the hatch’ with the Pellet O’s has always worked well when big lumps of meat become a bit blatant and obvious. Again, on the Bolt and Run Kit, size 8 Grappler hooks 🙌

Who else had an amazing 16th June? Here’s mine! It didn’t go entirely to plan as the carp were spawning on arrival, so I switched things up and fished in 3 different locations. A bunch of Chub, a Barbel and a lovely little Gudgeon. Good luck for the rest of the season! 😁

Back from a fantastic family holiday yesterday afternoon, chucked the family in the house 😂 straight to the lake. Phew, they’re not spawning. Only one method for me in these conditions. About 45mins of baiting up with mixers before they were confident enough. My little Opportunist 8fter sent out a Surface Bomb. Nailed this stunning common before slipping it back and rejoining the family. Itch scratched....and breathe! 😂🎣

Not been carping much recently so was great to get out this morning. Baited 3 spots with @sonubaits pellet and corn before then moving to a different part of the lake to try to get one off the top with my little 8fter. A cricket bat common fell to bread on a megaband, then I lost a decent one further out using the Korum Surface Bomb. Things dried up on the surface, but fortunately I’d primed those 3 spots on arrival. This mirror came from the 2nd spot, the CodeRed hookbait was in the water for less than 10mins. Always have a Plan B! 😉

The Combi Feeder has transformed my Tench fishing this year. Fished on a Heli Rig in two different ways

- Keep the ends on the feeder and fill it with red maggots

OR (my favourite)

- Fish it open with worms or maggots plugged with @sonubaits Krill & Squid groundbait.

I’ve just got some more 45g Combi Feeders which I’m going to introduce into my fishing for other species too. It’s quickly becoming an essential piece of tackle for me 👌

A drop in temperatures, rain and extreme winds definitely affected the tench fishing on the 24hours session we just had. Things were tougher but it didn’t stop us getting a few nice Tincas, including a PB for Dan! Same methods again as shown in my recent video, a super consistent way to catch tench like these.
