This article covers a day session Pike fishing with deadbaits in the Lea Valley. Generally, I am a lure angler but after a long winter of lure fishing for Perch it was quite nice to relax and fish with deadbaits. It didn’t end up very relaxing at all and was quite an action packed session.

Big Pike on Lures – Winter 2018

For me, lure fishing and winter go hand-in-hand. By December 2018 I’d been fishing quite hard for a few months for big Perch fishing around the Lea Valley. My target for three years had been to catch a 4lb+ Perch on a lure. In early December, I finally achieved this, and so I almost immediately switched focus to another challenge, big Pike on lures.

Pike fishing in the Lea Valley

This article is about a couple of months spent pike fishing in the Lea Valley. As time goes on I’m becoming more and more fond of lure fishing. It kind of suits my lifestyle very well. My time is very limit but if there’s a window I’ll grab it with both hands. I’ve been known to go fishing for 45minutes. A limited amount of kit and zero bait preparation makes lure fishing an ideal option for me.
