Big River Pike on Lures

If you’ve been following me on Instagram then you’ll know that I’ve started a few sessions after big river pike on lures. In fact, many of you have helped me in this new quest!

It’s been a while since I’ve properly lure fished for pike. I’m keen to use proper ‘pike lures’, not my perch lures. I don’t want to catch a big pike as a ‘bycatch’, keen to land it by design.

I looked in my lure box and it wasn’t looking great! This is where you guys have come to the rescue!!!! So many awesome suggestions of what I should be chucking! Such an eye opener. The lures have been ordered and now I’ve just gotta get out there and find that monster.

I’m not a complete stranger when it comes to lure fishing for decent pike from the river. My boat was on the Ouse for about 3 years and each winter I’d cruise around the river catching some cracking fish and generally enjoying life!

Below are some of the lures that you’ve suggest I MUST HAVE in my lures box. Again, thanks for your suggestions.

Such an incredible selection of lures were suggested. Dozens of them in fact. Of course, I’m only able to get a selection of those but how cool would it be for me to catch a big croc on a lure that you guys have recommended – a proper team effort!

Hopefully, this little campaign will result in success, but of course there’s no guarantees. I also hope that there’s still enough of the river season remaining to catch a few more perch.
